EPISODE 11: HR FOR SMALL BUSINESS WITH STEPHANIE HAMMERWOLD (@HRHAMMER)

Small businesses which are less than 500 employees account for 65% of new jobs. Approximately 543,000 new businesses get started each month (but more employer businesses shut down then start up each month) with 7 out of 10 businesses failing to make it past the 2 year mark. On today’s Workology Podcast I talked with Stephanie Hammerwold, an HR consultant who works with small businesses helping to navigate workplace compliance, HR and employment law.

Stephanie from Hammerwold Pershing discussed with me about common challenges for small business when it comes to “HR issues” including the most common employment laws that small business is challenged with and what priorities small businesses should consider. HR audits are one of the best ways to uncover areas of opportunity for your newly minted HR pro or consultant who you are working with when you are a small business.

HR metrics are a popular topic when it comes to HR professionals regardless of the company size. Stephanie suggests some ways to measure success and justify the benefits of human resources at work. Listen into the podcast to hear from small business HR advice from Stephanie and what steps businesses can take right now to remove risk and grow their business while leveraging the human capital within their company.
