Work Summary
My mission is simple: to turn ideas into words that inspire positive actions – to tell a powerful, compelling story, whether entertaining a cinema audience or selling a product.
I am an award-winning copywriter, scriptwriter and editorial consultant, regularly working in the areas of ad copywriting and PR, but also active as a BFI Associate Tutor and a lecturer on film journalism and screenwriting in Cambridge.
Formerly Editor and Creative Director of weekly entertainment magazines in Cambridge, Oxford and Bristol, I assembled and managed editorial teams and cut my journalistic teeth writing several hundred features, including interviews with subjects as diverse as Eddie Izzard, Gunther von Hagens and Kevin Spacey.
Through a growing frustration with the writing skills of outside agencies, I also developed in-house PR and wrote ads for radio and print. Freelance work quickly followed. This has involved the creation of concepts, copy and ads for a wide range of media, including print, web, radio, TV, mobile phones and the back end of a bus. (I believe all writing should be great, no matter what level it's pitched at...)
I also specialise in 'rescue' missions - saving copywriting projects when the client's previous copywriter has failed them.
As a scriptwriter, I am represented by MBA Literary Agents, London, UK.

My Highlights
As a freelance writer I have forged long-term partnerships with various successful creative agencies, working with an eclectic range of clients which in 2007-08 included Thomas Cook, Baufritz Homes, Omega Windows, Agellus Hotels, Marshalls, Cambridge Film Festival, City & Country, Pepper Kitchens, Cambridge Sport Lakes and Camstead Homes.
Previous freelance clients have included 3 Mobile, Play.com, Cambridge Folk Festival, Newmarket Races, Side UK (a West End based audio production company), Audiomotion (UK leaders in motion capture) and BAFTA nominated composers Bob and Barn, who were kind enough to describe my input as ‘the best PR we have ever had’.
In 1999 I was a recipient of a radio advertising award, and in 2001 won the Keats-Shelley Memorial Prize for prose.
