My Highlights

Currently running a full service marketing communications consultancy, based in the North West, that specialises in strategic marketing planning and public relations, interim management resources, research, telemarketing and advertising services. Clients include a brewery, mutual assurance society, holistic therapy centre, commercial financier, various car dealerships, telecomms application developer, business consultancy, community association, healthcare supplier, database provider, theme park, hotel resort and spa, gift company, independent college, solicitor, house builder, airline, university, and several marketing agencies. We have built formal associations with agencies in the Midlands and South East, to provide a nationwide capability.

Prior to establishing Able Marketing Communications, the founder, Neil Bent, was employed on a short term contract to cover the MD’s maternity leave, acting as marketing director. In addition to board and new business responsibilities, he established a new PR team.

Before that, he was responsible for all consumer and business to business PR activity at T-Mobile. With a team of thirteen and budgets of £4m, his main tasks included strategic planning, media relations, marketing promotions, crisis communication, community relations, sponsorship promotion, events and agency management.

During his earlier career, he had responsibility for a PR consultancy team in Oxford: six PR consultants, working on various clients (primarily BT and NatWest), worked for HSBC's leasing business, with full
autonomy to produce strategic/tactical plans for a central corporate function and
seven divisions, managing marketing communications
programmes for mergers and acquisitions and several rebranding exercises.

At the outset of his career, Neil worked in a couple of public relations agencies where he was responsible for the media relations for a high profile, blue chip portfolio of accounts including Mercury Communications, IBM, Dunlop and British Coal, Goodyear and Barratt West Midlands.
