Freelance Writer

Work Summary

I’ve been a freelance writer for over 10 years and have built up experience in many sectors, most notably sport, history and home entertainment technology – but, like most freelance writers, I’m able to turn my hand to many subjects. These have included the Pacific Coast Highway, restaurants in Santa Monica and independent film productions.

I’ve written for (among others) “FHM”, “New Woman”, the Sky customer magazine, “What Video” and various consumer websites.

Prior to going freelance at the end of 1996, I worked as an assistant editor on the UK’s leading satellite TV magazine, “What Satellite TV”, and I started out as a staff writer and later editor on two American Football publications, “First Down” and “Gridiron World”.

My Highlights

Writing a series of restaurant reviews in Santa Monica was a highlight, but my favourite jobs to date have been interviews with leading rugby players including Jeremy Guscott and Richard Hill when I was contributing to the Sky Customer Magazine.

Most satisfying has been the publication of my first two books, "Sherman's March to the Sea 1864" and "New York 1776", both in Osprey Publishing's Campaign Series.

Currently I am working very hard on my own toy news site, www.ToyTalk.co.uk, which is showing signs of taking off!
