My Highlights
There have been many highlights throughout my career; the first was in the late 1990s when I was a manager with Thomas Cook Global Services and we won the Platinum European Call Centre fo the Year Award, an award we would go onto win on another two occasions. Within my Business Development life, I have been proud to be the only member of staff to sell to a particularly difficult city council and all members of staff had already tried from the MD & FD down. I was very, very proud of this achievement.
In my community work, I have been able to raise £100ks for local organisations to make our local environment a better place to live in. I have been our Village of the Year Co-ordinator twice, once in 2002 and again in 2003. In 2002 we won the Fenland Section of the Village of the Year competition in 2003, we won the Fenland section, Cambridgeshire section and we were one of 40 villages throughout England & Wales to go forward to the final, where we won the Youth Section for the Eastern Region & Home Counties.
I have travelled the world and been fascinated by learning from different cultures, seeing different sites and hearing sounds, tasting fabulous food and meeting incredible people. These events shape you as a person.
I was recently overwhelmed when my history master from school invited me to consider becoming a community governor at my old school, I accepted the challenge and feel proud to be part of a school I once attended.
